First full-length release by this disbanded Washington, D.C. trio is actually "Nothing New," namely, because this CD contains some of the band's earlier recorded work from 1993 and 1994, when they were moving from South Bend, Indiana to Washington. During Chisel's early days in 1991, they followed more of the strict Washington "emo" sound and were also compared to Superchunk for their pop energy. NOTHING NEW shows their transformation from emo-popsters to mod-popsters that marked their second release, 8 A.M. ALL DAY and paved the way for their final record, SET YOU FREE. All in all, "Innocents Abroad" remains one of the band's most catchy songs.
