This double-disc collection brings together two of Gov't Mule's earliest albums: 1998's Dose and 2000's Life Before Insanity. Bassist Allen Woody died several months after the latter's release, and the band's sound gradually expanded during the years that followed. Southern rock always formed the bedrock of Gov't Mule's sound, though, and nowhere is that more apparent than on these early albums, which should entice anyone looking to snag both records at a budget price.
