For these opulent releases, Verve takes transfers from the original analog tapes and bring that remastered sound to 180-gram vinyl in deluxe gatefold packaging. Never before or since have instrumental innovations, deep spirituality and sheer beauty come together as enthrallingly as they did on this 1965 album, for which "classic" seems far too small a word: the four "A Love Supreme" parts "Acknowledgement," "Resolution," "Pursuance" and "Psalm." We just lost McCoy Tyner earlier this year; we will always have what he left behind here with Jimmy Garrison, Elvin Jones and John Coltrane. Verve.
