Label: Sire
Reissued 10/18/2024, Originally released 1981
This is the first Ramones album featuring entirely original compositions, and serves as a time stamp in Ramones history. Songwriting duties were split almost evenly between Joey and Dee Dee, and this is the collection that included both "She's a Sensation" and "The KKK Took My Baby Away," both inspired by the woman we now know as Linda Ramone. Pleasant Dreams was produced by Graham Gouldman with the intent to bring some pop sensibilities to The Ramones refined roar, and the result captures the band's desire to evolve while lamenting the trials of rock stardom.
