Originally released in 1967, Indian War Whoop was the Holy Modal Rounders' third album, and their first released since 1965's Holy Modal Rounders 2. In the meantime the Rounders (Peter Stampfel and Steve Weber) - fixtures on the Lower East Side's underground rock/folk/beat circuit, where the likes of Bob Dylan, Allen Ginsberg, Jim Kweskin, Luke Faust, Phil Ochs, Etc. could often be found performing--had both joined the Fugs.
