Australian Import

Compiled by Phil Turnbull of Voigt/465, Wild West -- a true archivist and documenter of that city's music scene -- Connectors: Sydney Post-Punk 1979-1983 is an excellent snapshot of the vibrant and eclectic Sydney underground scene from the day. The range of material runs across the spectrum from minimal electronics to brief, punkish blasts to catchy, guitar-based rock, the key word here being Connectors: the links between the bands despite differing styles that created something unique, and something divorced from the popular pub-rock music of the time. Phil dug deep into the archive: some of these tracks have never been released before; the rest come from hopelessly rare records from yesteryear, tracks specifically chosen not to overlap with other compilations which have helped document the Australian post-punk/underground scene of the day. The LP comes with a photo- and information-filled four-page booklet with extensive liner notes by Sean O'Brien. It is the ideal statement of an exciting time and place in Australian music. Features songs by Seems Twice, Scapa Flow, Thought Criminals, Systematics, Prod, Tactics, Scattered Order, pel mel, Sekret Sekret, No-V-Bleet, Slugf*ckers, Maestros & Dipsos, Voigt/465, Via Veneto, and Mosquito.
